Numerous Pride Event Wins Highlight Saturday Dual Meet at SJC

STANDISH, Maine – With victories in 11 of 14 events, the Regis College women's swimming and diving team defeated Saint Joseph's College in a dual meet, 167-77, while the Pride men earned nine event victories during a close loss to the Monk men, 103-97, Saturday afternoon at the Harold Alfond Center Pool.

Kyleigh Boatwright (Roseville, Calif.) and Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.) each earned three individual victories plus competed in one victorious relay apiece. Boatwright led off the 400 medley relay with a 100 back split of 1:07.98 as she joined Julia Burke (Barrington, N.H.), Mallytza Ibarra Davila (Yuma, Ariz.), and Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.) for an overall time of 4:36.28. Boatwright went on to win the 50 backstroke in 30.82 seconds, the 200 backstroke in 2:22.60, and the 50 butterfly in 29.21 seconds.

Aptt started her meet with a victory in the 1000 freestyle in 12:13.09, followed by a close win in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.41, just 13/100ths of a second in front of teammate Laylan Harris (McKinney, Texas). Aptt cruised to a win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:52.81, and then she teamed with Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.), Thalia Bowie (Lexington, Mass.), and Harris for a first place finish in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:51.34.

Burke picked up a victory in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 33.90 seconds, while Bowie touched the wall first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:42.98. Luhnau earned an event win in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:28.98, followed by Bowie in second place in 2:30.45.

Veterans Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) and Robert Wood (Cathedral City, Calif.) led the Pride men with three individual victories apiece. Pike collected wins in the 1000 freestyle in 11:07.89, the 100 freestyle in 52.72 seconds, and the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:14.61.

Wood picked up victories in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.61, the 200 backstroke in 2:23.65, and the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:29.65. Wood and Pike also swam the final two legs of the 200 freestyle relay, following Bryce Toumayan-Miller (Natick, Mass.) and Sam Madriz (Union, N.J.) for an overall time of 1:39.85 to win the event by six seconds.

Madriz earned two individual event wins of his own, finishing first in the 100 butterfly in 59.54 seconds and the 50 butterfly with a time of 27.07 seconds. Toumayan-Miller picked up a second place finish behind Madriz in the 50 butterfly in 28.81 seconds, 17/100ths of a second in front of the Monk swimmer in third place.

Regis College hosts dual meets on consecutive days during the first weekend of December, first welcoming Elms College to the Regis Pool Friday, Dec. 3, beginning at 6 p.m. The Pride will then face Husson University Saturday, Dec. 4, starting at 10 a.m.
