Regis Women’s Swim & Dive Team Maintain Academic Excellence

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Regis College women's swimming and diving team has once again received the Scholar All-America Team Award from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for its academic performance in the Fall 2019 semester, as the national organization announced the honorees Wednesday morning.

During the just-completed fall semester, the women's swimming and diving team put together a grade point average of 3.52, the highest in James Sweeney's tenure as head coach of the program. Of the 183 Division III women's programs honored, Regis is 20th highest in terms of GPA, tied with the spring 2016 semester for the highest ranking among peer programs.

This is the 14th time the Regis women have received the Scholar All-America Team Award within the last 15 semesters. The Pride have placed among the top 50 Division III programs according to grade point average 13 times in that span, including 10 instances within the top 40.

To qualify for the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Award, a program must post a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher within the designated semester. Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.

The Regis College swimming and diving teams will compete in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships this weekend, Jan. 31-Feb. 2, at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Mass.
