Swimming & Diving Competes in Day 2 of ECAC Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Senior Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) of the Regis (Mass.) swimming and diving team reached the finals in two events, as well as the men's 200 yard medley relay team, on Saturday at the ECAC Championships at the United States Naval Academy.

The men's 200 yard medley relay broke a school record by over a second, winning the "B" Final with a time of 1:33.39. Luong broke his own school record with his 50 yard backstroke split to lead off the race with a time of 23.12. Also on the relay team for the Pride were seniors Cassidy Bastianelli (Newton, Mass.) and Bryan Johnson (Sudbury, Mass.) and junior Nick Rainville (Reading, Mass.). Luong would go on to finish 10th in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 51.25 and 14th in the 100 yard butterfly at 49.97.

On the women's side, junior Jessica Higgins (Peabody, Mass.) and freshman Sarah Leonard (Brockton, Mass.) competed in the 100 yard backstroke. Higgins finished in 24th at 1:00.22, while Leonard came in at number 30 at 1:01.06.

The Pride will wrap up their final day of the 2016-17 season on Sunday in Day 3 of the ECAC Championships from Annapolis, Md.
