ESTRADA PERFORMS WELL AT NORWICH

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College women’s and men’s swimming teams traveled to Norwich University this past weekend.  Both teams competed at the event where they faced Norwich and Bentley.

 Christina Estrada (Bellingham, Mass./Blackstone Valley Tech.) had a strong day for the Pride finishing first in the 100 -yard freestyle and then went on to finish second in the 500-freestyle. Lindsey Ranahan (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) also swam well for the Pride taking a second place finish in the 50-freestyle event. Ranahan had a strong performance in the 100-backstroke, and took a second place finish 100-individual medley.

For the men, Ben Perry (Chicopee, Mass./Chicopee) was able to take a third place finish in the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:02.7.  Freshman Djordje Mandic (Portland, Maine/ Deering) finished well for the Pride taking second in the 100-freestyle  with a time of  50.90.

In the relays, the men were led by team members Andrew LaForrest (Roslindale, Mass./Another Course)  Perry,  Alex Caliendo (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) and Adam Millerick (Andover, Mass./Andover) were  able to capture a third place finish in the 200-freestyle relay.

In the 200 medley relay the men’s team was able to take a third place finish behind the solid effort of Nick Yerzyk (West Hills, Calif./Chaminade College Prep.), Stephan McGovern (Dorchester, Mass./Boston College), LaForest, and Mandic finishing with a time of 1:47.50.

The Pride’s next meet will be against Worcester Polytechnic institute on (Jan.15).
