PRIDE FALL SHORT IN HOME OPENER

WESTON, MASS. - The Regis College Women’s Swimming and Diving program opened the home portion of the 2010-11 season with a 147-120 defeat at the hands of Bridgewater State.  The loss drops the Regis record to 0-2 in the young season, and Bridgewater moves to 1-1 on their campaign.

Regis highlights included double victories from senior captain Lindsay Ranahan (Hingham, Mass.) and sophomore Christina Estrada (Bellingham, Mass.).  Ranahan posted victories in the 50 and 100 backstroke, Estrada came in strong with top placings in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley.  Both Ranahan and Estrada were top point-scorers, pacing the team with 22-points each.  In addition, Pride freshmen newcomers Megan Kennelly (Milford, Mass.) and Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) registered home debut victories.  Kennelly took top marks in the 1000 freestyle, and Burns in the 50 freestyle.

Regis has a short turnaround in search of its first victory, hosting The University of New England at 1pm Saturday afternoon.
