ESTRADA AND RANAHAN LEAD PRIDE AT INVITATIONAL

Weston, Mass.—Christina Estrada and Lindsay Ranahan lead the pride to fifth place finish in TCCC invitational.

Estrada captured the invitational crown in both the 500 and 200-yard freestyles. Her time of 2:04.42 in the 200-freestyle outdistanced the field by nearly two full seconds and was good enough for fifth place best all-time record in Regis swimming history.

Her 500 time of 5:35.39 was also the 4th fastest time in college history.

Over the course of the weekend, Estrada accumulated 46 points for the pride, and junior Lindsay Ranahan returned to action to contribute 25 points to the team total of 145.

Ranahan finished fifth in the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:08.57 and third-place in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:24.54.  The relay team of Ranahan, Estrada, Melissa Moore, and Megan Pratt were able to cut nine seconds off the previous season’s best relay time with a fifth-place finish of 2:10.30.

The women will train through the winter break when they host TCCC opponent WNEC and Bentley University on January 13, 2010.
