NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - After a career-high scoring performance last week against one of the top teams in the region, senior Courtney Doherty (Willimantic, Conn.) has been named to the Weekly Second Team by the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA), announced Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 28, by the coaches' organization.

The .526 field goal percentage was Doherty's highest single-game field goal percentage when attempting at least 12 shots. She scored at least six points in each quarter, including 12 points in the second quarter to help bring the Pride within five points at halftime.

So far this season, Doherty is averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game, currently tied for seventh in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in assists per game, 10th in steals per game, and 12th in the league in scoring average. Last Tuesday's 32-point performance was her third game of the season with at least 20 points, joining a 21-point effort against UMass Dartmouth Nov. 11 and a 20-point showing Nov. 18 against Eastern Connecticut State.

This is the first weekly award in Doherty's career. She was also named to the GNAC weekly honor roll Monday, Nov. 27.
