STONE SELECTED TO ECAC SECOND TEAM

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College sophomore forward Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) was named to the 2016 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Second Team it was announced Tuesday afternoon.

Stone was also selected to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) All-First Team, was named a New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) PrestoSports Player of the Week, a NECC Player of the Week and picked to the NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll.

The sophomore started and played in all 28 games for the Pride and led the NECC in field goal percentage (55.8%). Stone averaged 15.5 points per game good enough for fifth in the league, ranked sixth in rebounds per game (9.6), which led the Pride and was third in the conference in blocks per contest (1.8). Stone was Regis' most consistent shooter from the free throw line as she sunk 78.8% of her charity stripe attempts which ranked second in the league.

This season she set the single game scoring record during a 122-52 victory against Lesley University on February 16th. In 20 minutes of play, Stone recorded 37 points on 14-of-16 (87.5%) shooting including 9-of-10 (90.0%) from the free throw line. The 37 points broke the previous record of 36 set by teammate Amanda Hawkesworth (Abington, Mass.) on January 31, 2015 versus Daniel Webster College. Two weeks later, Stone matched the then record with 36 points at Elms College on Valentine's Day (2/14/15).

Through her two year career, Stone has amassed 798 points, 490 rebounds, 79 blocks a 55.2% field goal percentage and has converted 79.1% of her free throw attempts.

In the 76 years since its inception, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has emerged as the nation's largest Conference. The ECAC has grown considerably from its charter membership of 58, boasting over 300 member schools in Divisions I, II and III, ranging in location from Maine to Georgia, and westerly to Missouri.
