REGIS SLATED TO FACE TUFTS IN NCAA FIRST ROUND

WESTON, Mass. – For the fourth straight season, the #10 regionally ranked Regis College women's basketball team will play in the NCAA Tournament First Round as they Pride drew Tufts University during the selection show on Monday afternoon.

Regis will travel to the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine to square off against the Jumbos on Friday evening with tip-off set for 5:00 p.m. The host Nor'easters will play Moravian College following the first contest at 7:30 p.m.

The Pride sit at 24-3 overall after winning their fourth consecutive New England Collegiate Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson and Gold enter the NCAA Tournament on an eight game winning streak and winners of 18 of their last 20 contests.

The #1 regionally-ranked Jumbos finished their campaign with a 22-2 mark and earned an at-large bid into the dance after being edged in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship game 50-49 by #2 regionally ranked Amherst College. The Jumbos earned their fourth NCAA tourney appearance in a row and have eight appearances over the past nine years. The program has won five NCAA Regional titles and the last two NCAA Sectional titles.

The Pride and Jumbos have been opponents since the 1994 campaign and Tufts hold a 14-2 series advantage over Regis. In their last meeting, the Jumbos defeated the Crimson and Gold 57-44 on January 3, 2015. The winner of Friday night's game will take on the victor of the UNE and Moravian game in the other first round matchup.
