PRIDE ADVANCE TO CUA HOLIDAY CHAMPIONSHIP

Washington, D.C. – Behind freshman Amanda Hawkesworth's (Abington, Mass.) double-double, junior Emilee Marro's (Bedford, N.H.) team-high 24 points, and 22 forced turnovers, the Regis College women's basketball team defeated Clark University, 69-58 in the second game of the Catholic University-Fairfield Inn Washington DC Holiday Tournament.

The Pride get their sixth straight win to improve to 6-2 on the season and will advance to take on host Catholic University in the Championship game tomorrow at 4 p.m.

Hawkesworth had 14 points to go along with 15 boards and three assists, while Marro shot 7-for-13 from the field and an impressive 10-for-13 from the free-throw line. Ramonas also had a big game for the Pride, knocking down 16 points and grabbing nine rebounds in the win.

Trailing 23-21 with 5:29 remaining in the opening half, Regis used a 12-3 run to take a 33-26 lead into halftime, and they would never relinquish the lead.

Each time the Cougars (3-6) cut into the lead, the Pride were able to respond. Megan Grondin (Cumberland, Maine) brought her squad to within five in the first minute of the second half, but that was as close as they would come.

Emily Reilly (Marlboro, Mass.), who finished with a game-high 26 points, hit a layup to bring Clark within eight with under two minutes to play. Marro was sent to the free-throw line three separate times in just the last minute and was able to hit five-of-six to help close out the victory.
