SABREE RODRIGUEZ NAMED NECC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

WESTON, Mass.Sabree Rodriguez (Brockton, Mass.) helped lead the Regis College women's basketball team to their first-ever New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship this past weekend, and on Monday morning, she was named the NECC Player of the Week. This marks the second time this year she has earned the weekly award.

On her way to earning Tournament MVP honors, Sabree Rodriguez averaged 14.5 points and eight rebounds in the playoffs to help the Pride capture the 2013 NECC Championship. The senior guard recorded 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in the semi-finals against Daniel Webster, including crucial points down the stretch, to help Regis advance to the title game. In the Championship game, Rodriguez registered a double-double after scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds.

In her second year with the Pride, Rodriguez has averaged 13.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game to help lead Regis to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 1994-1995 season.

Regis (23-4) awaits to hear where they will play in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament with the selection show scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
