RODRIGUEZ, PRIDE SINK MARINERS, 68-31

WESTON, Mass. – Senior Sabree Rodriguez (Brockton, Mass.) scored a career-high 27 points to lead all scorers as Regis College cruised to a decisive 68-31 victory over the Mitchell College Mariners in New England Collegiate College Conference (NECC) women's basketball action on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Pride improve to 6-4 on the season, including a perfect 3-0 record in conference play.

Rodriguez came out of the gate strong, scoring 16 of her points in the first half after shooting 7-for-12 from the field. The Pride quickly jumped to a 10-2 lead less than five minutes in after Rodriguez hit a layup at the 15:06 mark. The Mariners, who fall to 1-8, 1-2 NECC, picked up their pace and went on a 6-2 run to cut the deficit, but Rodriguez responded by scoring on four possessions in a row for the Pride as they began to take over the game.

Lauren Kimble (Concord, Calif.) scored two quick three-pointers in the waning minutes of the half and pushed the lead to 32-14 at the 2:50 minute mark. Kimble would finish the game with 10 points.

The second half was much of the same story, as the Pride proved to be too much for the Mariners to handle. Freshman Diamond Thomas (Hartford, Conn.) scored 11 of her team-high 13 points for the Mariners, but Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) made the visitors pay for their 10-for-56 (17.9%) shooting from the field. Marro had a huge game on the boards, grabbing 13 rebounds for the Crimson & Gold, while also chipping in with five points and four assists.

The Pride went on a 25-2 run in a span of twelve minutes and led by as much as 63-21 at the 6:47 mark. Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) scored seven points in a row during that stretch, as the junior forward finished the game with 12 points for Regis. Ramonas also dished out four assists, grabbed three rebounds, and had two steals.

Mitchell was also led by senior guard Kaylee Cerruto (Torrington, Conn.), who pitched in with six points, three rebounds, and one assist.

The Pride are back in action on Thursday, January 10 as they travel to take on NECC opponent Southern Vermont at 6:00 p.m. Mitchell will host Elms at 4:00 p.m., also on Thursday.
