RODRIGUEZ HITS 1,000 POINT MILESTONE IN WIN OVER BECKER

LEICESTER, Mass. - Sophomore guard Sabree Rodriguez (Brockton, Mass.) recorded her 1,000th career point for the Pride as the Regis College women's basketball team defeated Becker College 79-41 in New England Collegiate Conference women's basketball action at the Leicester Gymnasium.

The loss dropped Becker to 4-14 with a 4-7 mark in the NECC. The Pride improved to 14-4 overall and a perfect 11-0 in league play.

The Hawks kept things interesting in the first half. After falling behind by ten points Becker went on a 7-0 run, capped off by a fast break layup from Tatiana Mojica (Worcester, Mass.), cutting the Regis lead to 17-14. The Pride responded by going on an 18-9 run to close out the half, making the score 35-23.

The Pride dominated the second half of play, outscoring the Hawks 44-18. With 9:54 remaining in regulation Sabree Rodriguez received the ball at the top of the key, drove to the net, laying the ball in for her 1,000th career point. The Pride had two players finish in double figures as sophomore center Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) led the way with a game-high 21 points and ten rebounds, earning her third double-double of the season. Janaya Bradley (New Haven, Conn.) chipped in with 11 points off the bench.

Becker shot just 26% from the field on the afternoon. Chelsea Joubert (Westborough, Mass.) led the Hawks with 15 points, eight of them from the charity stripe. Tatiana Mojica added eight points and five boards in the losing effort.

Becker will try to end a three game slide when they host Lesley University on Thursday, February 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. The Pride gets back to work on Tuesday, January 31st, when they travel to New London, Connecticut to play the Mariners of Mitchell College at 7:00 p.m.
