REGIS COLLEGE HAS TOUGH DAY WITH BATES COLLEGE IN BABSON TOURNAMENT

WESTON, Mass.—After starting the season with two convincing wins the Regis College women's basketball team dropped two games in the Babson Tip-Off Tournament November 20-21. Opening day one versus D3Hoops.com No. 13 Babson College, Regis faced three post players that tally double-double figures almost nightly. A poor shooting night from the floor left Regis College stunned, dropping a 65-45 decision to Babson College. Regis lost its consolation game to Bates College 64-55.

Although several Regis College players played hard, making several key defensive stops throughout the game, the lack of transition points for the Pride, and repeated high percentage baskets by Babson left Regis trailing for much of the game.

As a team Regis College shot a lowly average of 26 percent from the field against the two teams. Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) was the high scorer versus Bates, posting 14 points.

Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine/Deering), a freshman, was such a defensive contributor. Ramonas had six steals versus Babson. Offensively she shot 50 percent from the floor, and is making just above that for the season.

Senior co-captian Sarah McNult (Hampstead, N.H.) grabbed 28 boards over the two days, and had 10 total steals for the Pride. McNult had a team-high 10 points versus Babson.

Returnees Brittany White (Dorchester, Mass.), Stefanie Wozmak (Auburn, N.H.), and Crawford played well, but the team's success hinged on scoring, which the team did poorly.

White had nine points versus Bates, Wozmak added six points, and went 4-4 from the free throw line. Regis College will take to the floor on Tuesday, Nov. 23 when it travels to Rivier College. After Rivier, Regis College will begin a four game home stretch beginning with Newbury (Dec. 4), and includes its annual tournament December 11-12.
