NO. 5 REGIS COLLEGE RETURN TO ENDICOTT IN QUARTERFINAL

WESTON, Mass.—The No. 5 Regis College women’s basketball team will make its fourth consecutive appearance in The Commonwealth Coast Conference postseason Tuesday (Feb. 22) when it travels to No. 4 Endicott College. Head coach Julie Plant will hope to coach her team to another championship as she did in the 2009-10 season.

Regis College (15-10, 9-4 TCCC) defeated Endicott (16-8, 10-3 TCCC) in the quarterfinal game of the 2009-10 season to reach the TCCC Championship game. Regis College loss by three (64-61) to Endicott earlier in the season, and the two have a storied past in the chase to the conference title.

Regis College went on a four-game winning streak to confirm its positioning in the playoff hunt. Recently defeating Anna Maria College 57-49, Regis College defeated Nichols, Roger Williams, and Western New England prior to Saturday’s win. Roger Williams and Western New England will also play in the quarterfinal game.

Teammates Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) and Sarah McNult (Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) led Regis College through most of the season. Crawford led the Pride with 335 points (13.4 PPG), while Sarah McNult captured her 1,000th career rebound this season, and led Regis College with 290 total rebounds (11.6 RPG).

McNult had one of her best games of the season versus Colby College when she notched a 19-point and 19-rebound performance. Alex Chace (Easton, Oliver Ames) and Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine/Deering) stepped up as reliable performers as the season progressed. Chace became a threat from the three-point arc during games.

Chace went 7-for-11 from the three-point line against Endicott, while scoring a career-high 24 points. Ramonas was third in points per game (9.8) for Regis College this season. She had a career-high 21 points versus Eastern Nazarene.
