CRAWFORD AND MCNULT JOIN WHITE AS TEAM CAPTAINS

Weston, Mass.—Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) and Sarah McNult (Hampstead, NH) were named as team captains of the women’s basketball team by head coach Julie Plant Friday.

The pair will join returning captain Brittany White (Dorchester, Mass.). The trio led the women’s team to The Commonwealth Coast Conference finals in February, its deepest run in TCCC playoffs in more than 10 years.

Although the Pride lost to the University of New England 75-62, it would earn a bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament. Regis would defeat its quarterfinals opponent Worcester State 63-53, but lose to Plymouth State 72-65 in the semifinal game hosted by Keene State University.

McNult scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the loss to the Nor’easters. White contributed 10 points for the Pride.

Crawford averaged 11.6 points per game in 30 games, and led the team with 129 total assists. She shot better than 42 percent from the floor on the season, and second in the team in average points per game behind Jessica Page (Quincy, Mass.).

White became a pivotal player in the Pride’s offense this season, after having suffered an injury during the 2008-09 season. She contributed 9.8 PPG, and was third in rebounds with 141 total rebounds. White scored a season and career-high 21 points versus Suffolk University (12/08/09), and was two rebounds short of a double-double. White’s athleticism complemented Crawford’s ability to penetrate the lane, and Page’s three-point prowess on the team.

McNult led the team in rebounds averaging 9.7 rebounds per game. She had a season-high 16 rebounds for the Pride, grabbing the mark against Anna Maria College (02/20/10) and Endicott College (02/25/10). She had 10 double-double performances this year for Regis, including its ECAC quarterfinal win over Worcester State.
