TOUGH LOSS TO ENDICOTT DROPS REGIS TO THIRD IN TCCC

Weston, Mass.—Ashley Vitale (Wilmington, Mass.) led all-scorers with 25 points as she helped Endicott College (15-5, 8-1 TCCC) to an 82-70 defeat of its The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Regis College (13-8, 7-2 TCCC) Saturday afternoon.

Vitale also grabbed seven rebounds in her 33:00 minutes of play, and was one of four Gulls to tally double figures against Regis. Teammate Ceciley Chisholm (Lexington, Mass.) chimed in with 18 points on 8-of-11 (.727) shooting from the floor. Vitale was 10-of-13 (.769).

 

Junior Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) and senior Kaylin Burke (Leominster, Mass.) added 12 and 10 points respectively. Kate Kovach (Moon Township, Pa.) was a point away from being the fifth player in double-digits, finishing with nine points.

 

As a team, Endicott shot better than 63 percent from the floor, 54 percent from the three-point line, and an impressive 77 percent from the free-throw line.

 

With four of its player’s tallying double figures, Regis’ Meagan Tobin (Quincy, Mass.) had a team-high 16 points. Sophomore Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) contributed 15 points in 37 minutes. Crawford was 6-of-10 from the floor, making 50 percent of her three point attempts (1-of-2), and went 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.

 

Teammates Jessica Page (Quincy, Mass.) and Brittany White (Dorchester, Mass.) added 14 and 12 points respectively.

 

Regis was 44 percent shooting from the field, and slightly better from the free-throw line, shooting 63 percent.

 

The two teams were in a four-way tie for first place in TCCC before Saturday’s game. Continuing conference play, Endicott College will travel to the University of New England on Feb. 9.

 

Regis College will travel to Western New England College Feb. 9 to take on the Golden Bears at 5:30 pm.
