Pride Win on the Road in GNAC Action

NASHUA, N.H. – Regis College Men's Volleyball traveled north to Nashua, New Hampshire, to face Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Rivier University at the Muldoon Center. Behind a dominant performance from Jalen Watt (South Hadley, Mass.), who tallied 19 kills, the Pride secured a 3-1 victory over the Raiders to improve to 16-10 on the season and 4-6 in conference action.

Watt led the way with 19 kills, six digs, and two service aces, while Brandon Valdes (Miami, Fla.) and Adam Bonica (Quincy, Mass.) contributed nine and eight kills, respectively, along with four digs each. Tyrell Bucasas (Waialua, Hawaii) orchestrated the offense with 37 assists and added seven digs, while Jay Bodhidatta (Bangkok, Thailand) anchored the defense with 17 digs.

For the Raiders, Matthew McCloskey recorded 10 kills, Tyler Dickinson added nine kills and three blocks, and Cade Barron dished out 30 assists in the effort.

How it Happened:

  • The Pride capitalized on a five-point run, highlighted by two kills from John Nangle (Lowell, Mass.), to take a 12-7 lead in the opening set. A service ace from Jalen Watt, followed by a Raiders' error, extended the lead to nine before Regis closed out the set with a 25-17 victory.
  • Watt accounted for a third of the Pride's opening points to help establish an early 9-3 advantage. Regis maintained control throughout, never allowing the Raiders to get within five points, before securing a dominant 25-15 win in set two.
  • The Raiders put together two key scoring runs—one of seven points and another of five—to power their way to a 25-14 victory in set three, cutting the Pride's match lead to 2-1.
  • The Pride responded in the final set, using a pair of 3-0 runs to build a 15-8 lead. Rivier fought back, narrowing the gap to 19-17 after a block by Tyler Dickinson and Cody Fitzpatrick. However, Regis held on and closed the set with three unanswered points to secure a 25-20 victory and clinch the 3-1 match win.
