Regis Sweeps Elms in Three Sets

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College swept Elms College, 3-0 (25-15, 25-8, 25-21), in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's volleyball match Wednesday night at Picknelly Arena.

Brandon Valdes (Miami, Fla.) led the Pride with nine kills, five service aces, and four digs. Tyrell Bucasas (Waialua, Hawaii) recorded 20 assists and two digs, while Jalen Watt (South Hadley, Mass.) contributed six kills and three digs.

Regis jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the opening set before Elms responded to tie the score at 3-3. The teams remained within two points of each other until a series of Blazers' errors allowed the Pride to pull ahead. A kill and a service ace from Elms briefly slowed Regis' momentum, but an 8-4 run sealed the first set for the Pride, 25-15.

Elms opened the second set with a point off a Regis service error, but the Pride quickly took control with a dominant 10-3 run. Consecutive kills from Valdes and Watt, combined with multiple Elms errors, extended the lead. Regis closed out the set decisively, 25-8.

The Blazers showed resilience in the third set, keeping pace with the Pride at 5-5. Regis maintained its offensive consistency while Elms stayed within three points for much of the frame. However, a 5-2 Regis run pushed the lead to 21-15. The Pride kept up the pressure, finishing strong for a 25-21 victory to secure the sweep.

Regis (5-3, 1-1 GNAC) will host Curry College and Vermont State University Johnson on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Elms (2-4, 0-1 GNAC) will travel to face Sage College on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 12:00 p.m., followed by a matchup against Elmira College at 2:00 p.m.
