Men's Lacrosse Battles with Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Regis College was defeated by Albertus Magnus, 10-9, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse game at Celentano Field.

Regis College enjoyed its best offensive output since scoring 11 goals in a March 22nd victory over Eastern Nazarene. Nick Klein (Buxton, Maine) led the Pride with five goals and one assist, while Ryan Richardson (Corona, Calif.) added two goals and doled out two assists.

Evan Azary (Shelton, Conn.) and Richardson both scored in the first quarter to give the Pride a 2-0 lead to start the game. After a goal by Albertus Magnus, Klein scored off of a pass from Richardson to put the Pride up, 3-1, by the start of the second quarter.

Regis continued to press its advantage in the second quarter, with Connor Deveau (Harwich, Mass.) and Richardson scoring unassisted goals, followed by two straight scores by Klein, giving the Pride a 7-3 lead heading into halftime.

Klein scored twice more in the third quarter but the Falcons battled back, led by Bailey Kirwin who scored three times in the third quarter alone to cut the Regis lead to two (9-7) heading into the final quarter. Albertus Magnus completed the comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring three more goals in the period to overtake the Pride.

Devin Hammon (Chicopee, Mass.) made 13 saves in goal for the Pride while Dane Walsh made 10 saves in the win for the Falcons.

Jon Olson led the Falcons with six goals, while Kirwin finished with four. Cooper Strecker added an additional goal, while Kader Price finished with three assists.

Regis College (3-10, 0-9 GNAC) concludes the 2023 season with a home matchup against Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Tuesday, April 25, beginning at 7 p.m.
