Regis Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Eastern Nazarene, 11-1

NORTH QUINCY, Mass. – After a slow start, the Regis College offense started producing throughout the final 45 minutes of Wednesday night's contest, defeating Eastern Nazarene College, 11-1, in a non-conference men's collegiate lacrosse match at Creedon Field.

The Pride offensive output was spread out as Nate Arsenault (Westford, Mass.), Brendan Cook (Billerica, Mass.), Nick Klein (Buxton, Maine), and Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.) scored two goals apiece. Marsella led the Pride with four assists, and Ryan Richardson (Corona, Calif.) contributed three assists.

Regis took advantage of an early man-up opportunity as Klein scored 4:13 into the match off an assist from Donovan. However, the Pride was held scoreless the rest of the first quarter, and Eastern Nazarene pulled into a 1-1 tie late in the period on a goal by Matt Cawthorne.

Thanks to another man-up opportunity, the Pride took the lead for good midway through the second quarter as Cook set up Marsella for a goal. Marsella would score again quickly, and then Cook scored with 23 seconds remaining in the first half to give Regis a 4-1 halftime advantage.

Arsenault led the Pride in the third quarter with two goals and one assist to increase the Regis lead to 8-1. In the fourth quarter, Donovan scored an unassisted goal early in the period, and then Marsella assisted on goals by Cook and Evan Azary (Shelton, Conn.) 56 seconds apart to close out the scoring.

Robby Fuller (Wolfeboro, N.H.) was credited with 10 saves in net for the Pride, plus he tied Brayden Hutchinson (Belgrade, Maine) for the team lead in groundballs with four. Michael Hammon (Magnolia, Del.) paced the Regis defensive effort with three caused turnovers.

Regis College (3-1) finally opens its home schedule Saturday, March 25, with a GNAC contest against Dean College starting at 1 p.m.
