Regis Pride Collect Three GNAC Weekly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. - Regis College student-athletes continue to be recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on a weekly basis, as a sophomore and two first-year student-athletes are among the GNAC weekly award winners announced Monday, Feb. 12, by the league office.

Harry Grayson (Lowell, Mass.) has been named GNAC Male Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second time in his collegiate career after breaking the indoor school record in the 200 meter dash Saturday at Boston University. Grayson finished second in his heat of the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.00 seconds, over a full second quicker than his previous personal-best time and 1/100th of a second quicker than the old school record of 23.01 seconds established by Matt Owens Feb. 15, 2014. Grayson was just 0.13 seconds behind heat winner Joshua Antoine of Colgate University.

For the fifth time this season, Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) has been selected the GNAC Female Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week after her record-breaking performance at the Boston University Davie Hemery Invitational Friday. Amasa-Titus won her heat of the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.37 seconds, 1.22 seconds faster than the previous record held for almost 16 full years by Christina Ewing when she ran 27.59 seconds Feb. 22, 2008. Amasa-Titus is now a qualifier for the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Eddie Djatcha (Lowell, Mass.) has been named the GNAC Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after leading Regis College with 1.1 blocks per set in three matches last week. Tuesday night, he earned three blocks along with two kills, one service ace, and two digs against a hard-hitting Endicott team. Saturday, he started with a season-high six total blocks along with four kills, one service ace, and five digs against Sage. He then collected two total blocks plus went 6-for-7 on attack attempts against Houghton. Djatcha now leads the Pride with 18 total blocks and is sixth in the GNAC with 0.75 blocks per set.

The Regis College men's volleyball team will now host Emerson College Thursday, Feb. 15, starting at 7 p.m. in a match moved from Tuesday, Feb. 13, due to an incoming snowstorm. The Pride track and field team returns to Boston University for the 2024 GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships Sunday, Feb. 18, beginning at 11 a.m.
