WINTHROP, Mass. – Regis College leads all Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) core members with 124 honorees, part of the league-record 1,261 student-athletes selected to the 2020-21 Academic All-GNAC Team, announced Monday, June 28, by the conference office.
In order to be eligible for the Academic All-GNAC Team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have reached/completed second-year academic status. This is the fourth consecutive year that more than 1,000 GNAC student-athletes have earned a spot on the annual Academic All-GNAC Team, with an increase of 113 student-athletes from the 2019-20 squad.
Every Pride squad placed multiple representatives on the Academic All-GNAC Team, led by women's soccer, the recipient of the Judith W. Burling Team Award for Academic Excellence in each of the past three years, with 20 players. The women's volleyball team placed 14 student-athletes on the academic squad, followed by softball with 12 representatives and men's soccer with 11 players.
Regis College is one of four GNAC schools with 100 or more representatives on this year's Academic All-GNAC Team. Saint Joseph's College of Maine boasted 120 student-athletes with the academic honor, just ahead of Lasell University with 119 representatives and Emmanuel College with exactly 100 Academic All-GNAC student-athletes.
Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports within NCAA Division III as part of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
