Cold Weather Creating Further Delay in Start to Lacrosse Seasons

Due to a continued cold weather forecast for New England preventing fields from becoming playable, as well as creating unhealthy conditions for student-athletes, coaches, officials, gameday staff, and fans to remain outside for an extended period of time, the Regis College men's and women's lacrosse teams have agreed to further schedule changes.

Both the men's lacrosse match at Salem State and the women's lacrosse contest at Thomas College scheduled for Thursday, March 7, have been called off. The men's lacrosse match will not be rescheduled this season. Regis College and Thomas College have agreed to reschedule the women's lacrosse match for Tuesday, April 9, starting at 4 p.m., with the site switching from Waterville, Maine, to Weston, Mass.

Both squads are now scheduled to open their respective 2019 season next week. The Pride women are slated to host Utica Tuesday, March 12, beginning at 4 p.m. at Regis Stadium. The Regis men plan to travel to New London, Conn., to face Mitchell College next Wednesday, March 13, starting at 4 p.m. Weather permitting, the GNAC opener for both teams will take place at Regis Stadium Saturday, March 16, with the men taking on Lasell at 12 p.m., followed by the women against Norwich at 3:30 p.m.
