Regis Women’s Tennis Announces 2016 Fall Slate

2016 Fall Schedule

WESTON, Mass. – Regis (Mass.) head coach John Ciarleglio announced the 2016 women's tennis fall schedule which includes five home matches and 10 contests overall. The Pride enters its final season in the New England Collegiate Conference before heading to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference beginning in the fall of 2017. Regis will play six matches as part of its NECC conference slate.

"This will be our final season as members of the NECC and we hope to go out with a successful defense our title," said Ciarleglio, who enters his eighth season at the helm of the women's tennis team. "We have a challenging non-conference schedule which also includes three GNAC programs as we prepare for the transition a year from now."

The Pride opens the season Sept. 1 at home against Eastern Nazarene before visiting Johnson & Wales (RI) and hosting Suffolk. Regis has historically had difficulty with all three teams and will be looking for its first-ever win over JWU having lost to the Wildcats each of the last three seasons. Suffolk finished second in the GNAC last season, losing just once during conference play. Eastern Nazarene leads the all-time series by a considerable margin but the Pride have dominated the Lions as of late with four straight victories.

Regis then dives into its NECC slate, opening at Becker (Sept. 17) and exclusively playing league matches over the next three weeks. The Pride play its league home finale against Lesley, the only NECC team to take a game off the Pride last season, doing so in the regular season and in the NECC Championship.

The regular season concludes on Oct. 13 with a non-conference affair at St. Joseph (CT), the last of the three GNAC opponents.

The NECC Tournament semifinals begin on Saturday, Oct. 15.
