Ashleigh Kelley Named GNAC Female Track Athlete of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – For the second consecutive week, graduate student Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Female Track Athlete of the Week after breaking a school record, announced Monday, Jan. 23, by the league office.

Saturday at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational at Tufts University, Kelley finished second overall in the 3000 meter run with a school record time of 10:39.17, 12.67 seconds quicker than the previous mark. Kelley earned her second qualifying time for the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships after previously qualifying in the one mile run. She also ran the second leg of the 4x800 meter relay Saturday, helping the squad post an overall time of 11:59.39.

Kelley now owns the indoor school records in the one mile run, 3000 meter run, as part of the 4x800 meter relay, and as part of the distance medley relay. She also holds the outdoor school records in the 800 meter run, 1500 meter run, and as part of the 4x800 meter relay.

The Regis College track and field team heads to Middletown, Conn., for the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational Saturday, Jan. 28, beginning at 10 a.m.
