Emily Fagundo Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

WESTON, Mass. – Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.), recent Regis College graduate, has been selected to the 2021-22 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 1 Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Division III Team, announced Thursday, May 26, by the national organization.

This is the third career Academic All-District® honor for Fagundo, as the multi-sport student-athlete received recognition on the 2020-21 and 2021-22 Academic All-District 1 Women's Volleyball teams. Fagundo advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot and is eligible for her second Academic All-America® award of the year after collecting Academic All-America® Third Team honors in women's volleyball in December.

Fagundo was named Regis College Class of 2022 Co-Valedictorian after completing her bachelor's degree in nuclear medicine with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Graduating summa cum laude, she received the Maria Leonard Book Award at the Honors Induction Ceremony as well as the prestigious Crimson and Gold tassel during the Baccalaureate Mass and Awards Ceremony and the Senior Scholar-Athlete Award at the Athletics Awards Presentation.

A four-year letterwinner in both volleyball and track and field, Fagundo finished fourth in the long jump at this year's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships. During the outdoor season, she posted a personal collegiate-best time of 13.57 seconds in the 100 meter dash at the Silfen Invitational April 16, and she finished third in the 200 meter dash at both the Regis Spring Classic April 8 and the Regis Pre-Conference Meet April 23.

Fagundo earned All-GNAC honors at the 2020 GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a second place finish in the long jump thanks to a personal-best mark of 4.92 meters (16' 1.75"). In 2019, she compiled three individual top-six finishes to score points for the Pride and help the women's team win the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

During the 2021 volleyball season, Fagundo played a significant role as the squad accumulated the second-most victories in a season in program history with 23. She became the sixth player in team history to collect at least 1,000 career assists, finishing with 1,010 helpers. For the year, Fagundo led the squad with 557 assists, eighth on the Pride's single season assists list.

Fagundo is one of six District 1 honorees with an undergraduate grade point average of 4.0 as the members of the team compiled an average undergraduate GPA of 3.94.

The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the competition realm and in the classroom.
