Elisabeth Cooke Collects GNAC Major Award to Lead Pride

WINTHROP, Mass. – Elisabeth Cooke (East Longmeadow, Mass.) capped a return to the Regis College track and field program with her selection as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, highlighting the Pride's representation within the end-of-year awards announced Friday, May 27 by the league office.

In a vote by the conference coaches, the Pride women's track and field squad was selected to receive the Team Sportsmanship Award for the outdoor season. In addition, Tori Bradley (Dracut, Mass.) was chosen to represent Regis on the GNAC Women's Indoor Track and Field All-Sportsmanship Team, and Abby Kilbride (Peabody, Mass.) is the Pride's representative on the GNAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field All-Sportsmanship Team.

Cooke returned to the track and field team to complete her eligibility after losing the 2020 outdoor season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the Regis Spring Classic April 8, her first competition in over two years, she posted a then-career best mark of 35.59 meters (116' 9") in the hammer throw to finish third as well as a mark of 30.06 meters (98' 7") to finish second in the discus throw.

At the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 1, Cooke collected three All-GNAC awards by finishing second in the shot put at 10.10 meters (33' 1.75") and third in both the discus throw at 29.83 meters (97' 10") and the hammer throw with a mark of 34.03 meters (111' 8"). Cooke completed her Master of Science degree in applied behavior analysis during the spring.

Bradley worked hard to improve throughout her first collegiate season, finishing seventh in the weight throw at the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a mark of 9.52 meters (31' 3"). During the outdoor portion, she won the hammer throw at the Wellesley Invitational at 30.73 meters (100' 10"), finished fourth in the event at the Regis Spring Classic with a season-best mark of 33.92 meters (111' 3"), and scored for the Pride by finishing sixth at the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at 32.02 meters (105' 1").

Kilbride emerged as one of the team's top sprinters, winning both the 60 meter dash in 8.94 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 31.05 seconds at the MIT Art Farnham Invitational Jan. 8. She capped her first year of collegiate competition with a third place finish in the 100 meter dash in a season-best time of 13.77 seconds at the Regis Pre-Conference Meet April 23 as well as a sixth place finish in the event at the GNAC Outdoor Championships in 13.80 seconds, plus she was part of the 4x100 meter relay that placed third at the conference meet in 53.71 seconds.
