School Records Broken at Middlebury Winterfell

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Record-breaking performances by seniors Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) and Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) led the way for the Pride as the Regis College women's track and field team competed at the Middlebury Winterfell, hosted by Middlebury College at the Virtue Field House.

Ashleigh Kelley finished second in the one mile run, just over two seconds behind Andie Cornish of the University of Vermont, with a time of 5:23.83. That mark is 5.66 seconds faster than the previous record time she established at the Plymouth State Panther Invitational Feb. 8, 2020.

Erin Kelley crossed the finish line in fifth place in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:05.29, exactly 53 seconds quicker than her previous personal best time in the event posted at the 2020 Mary Grinaker Invitational. By 1.59 seconds, she broke the school record previously set by Siobhan McLaughlin at the MIT Invitational Feb. 8, 2014.

In the 4x400 meter relay, Ashleigh Kelley joined with Juleen Guirand (Berkley, Mass.), Annabelle Jean-Philippe (Randolph, Mass.), and Lizzy Melvin (Southington, Conn.) for a total time of 4:56.28. In the 600 meter run, Melvin posted a time of 2:03.54, followed by Jean-Philippe in 2:04.39 and Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) in 2:14.00.

Senior Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) was Regis's top finisher in three events, finishing ninth overall in the long jump with a mark of 4.44 meters (14' 7") on her first attempt, 15th in the 60 meter dash in 8.61 seconds, and 22nd in the 200 meter dash in 29.62 seconds. Catherine Hegarty (Needham, Mass.) earned her best mark on her final attempt twice, finishing 10th in the triple jump at 8.88 meters (29' 1.75") and posting a mark of 3.99 meters (13' 1.25") in the long jump.

In the throwing events, Allie Sanidas (Ipswich, Mass.) led the way for the Pride with 12th place finishes in both the weight throw at 9.49 meters (31' 1.75") and the shot put at 8.87 meters (29' 1.25"). Tori Bradley (Dracut, Mass.) placed 15th in the weight throw with a mark of 9.08 meters (29' 9.5") and 16th in the shot put with a top effort of 8.17 meters (26' 9.75").

The Regis College track and field team returns to Vermont for the Middlebury Invitational next Saturday, Jan. 29, starting at 11 a.m.
