TRIPLE THREAT ADDED TO WOMEN'S TRACK FOR 2011-12

Weston,Mass.—The Regis College women's track and field team recently announced commitments for the fall and spring 2011-12 season.  The Women's Track & Field Team will welcome three fast additions to its already strong sprint squad. Incoming freshmen Cheyenne Genga (South Windsor, Conn.), Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.), and Rachel Wong (Wakefield, Mass.) have already committed to headlining a freshman class full of talented athletes.

Genga hails from South Windsor High School (South Windsor, Conn.) with accomplishments from the 100-400 meter dashes. Her best times of 13.61s, 27.58s, and 63.88s will make her a safe bet to add to any sprint relay squad the team fields. Genga has ample experience within top meets, having consistently competed at the CIAC Class L Championship T&F Meet, as well as Connecticut State Meet with her high school relay teammates.

Walls joins the team from Everett High School (Everett, Mass.) and boasts talent in the long-sprints and high jump. She has a 200-meter best time of 28.57s, with her talent showcased more so in the 400-meter dash (best time of 63.25s) and high jump with a best performance of 5' 2". In her senior year, Walls placed third at the Massachusetts (MIAA) Eastern Division 1 Outdoor Championships in the high jump, advancing the Massachusetts (MIAA) All-State Outdoor Championship in which she placed 10th for the event.

Wong as another Massachusetts-native, enters her freshman year as a Wakefield Memorial High School graduate (Wakefield, Mass.) with specialties in the 200-meter dash, high jump, and triple jump; holding personal bests of 27.37s, 5'2", and 31'10" respectively. Her multi-talented repertoire will give her versatility in competing well in both the sprints and field events.
