Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) netted a game-high four goals, Linsay Bumila (Raynham, Mass.) scored the gamewinner with under seven minutes to play and the Regis College women's lacrosse team edged Rivier University 12-11 Thursday at Regis Stadium.

Rivier (4-5) twice tied the game in the final 15 minutes before Bumila's goal with 6:48 to play gave the Pride (5-3) the lead for good. It was just the midfielder's second goal of the season but came at an opportune time as the Pride defense held the Raiders scoreless the rest of the way.

Paxton Larocque led the way for Rivier tallying four goals to share game-high honors with Salamone. Salamone also posted Regis' two assists in the match.

Emma Decker (Southborough, Mass.) recorded seven saves in net for the Pride with Rivier goalie Courtney Laperriere turning nine Regis shots away.

Regis trailed just once in the game but never led by more than three goals. Salamone got the scoring started less than three minutes into the game before Larocque and Amanda Wickens (3 G, 2 A) scored free position goals to give the Raiders their lone lead.

Ariana Woodley (Norwood, Mass.) put the Pride ahead 5-3, one timing a pass from Salamone to give Regis its largest lead to that point. Rivier responded to tie the score but Salamone added another to help the Pride again go up by two and take a 7-5 lead into halftime.

Both teams came out firing in the second half but it was Regis that built a 10-7 lead less than six minutes into the period. Rivier responded with three straight goals to tie the game with less than 15 minutes to play but Decker would get beaten just one more time while Regis snuck in another two goals to take the win.

The Pride return to New England Collegiate Conference action on Saturday, playing at Wheelock at 12:00 p.m.
