Regis Defeats Dean, 14-11

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College took an early lead and maintained its offensive advantage to defeat Dean College, 14-11, on Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game at Regis Stadium.

Regis struck first, just 34 seconds into the game with a goal from Kylee Marley (Westerly, R.I.) assisted by Maddey Strickland (Hopkinton, Mass.). The Pride then scored two additional goals within 20 seconds of each other to lead 3-0. The Bulldogs responded with a goal by Alisha Caldeira to close the deficit to two. Both teams scored three goals to finish out the first quarter with a Pride lead of 7-4.

The Pride and the Bulldogs each scored four goals in the second quarter, with the Pride goals coming from Marley, Molly Higgins (Weymouth, Mass.), and two from Hope Alto (Boston, Mass.), to finish the first half leading 11-8.

The Bulldogs held the Pride scoreless in the third quarter, scoring two goals to trail by one heading into the fourth quarter, 11-10.

With just over a minute into the fourth quarter, Marley scored a goal after a successful draw control from Alto. The Pride added to their offensive insurance by scoring two more goals in the fourth quarter. With just eight seconds remaining, the Bulldogs scored a power play goal to finish the game with a deficit of three, with Regis earning a 14-11 victory.

Alto led the Pride with four goals and 16 draw controls, while Higgins and Marley both finished with a hat trick.

Allie Stockwell finished with 16 saves for the Bulldogs. Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) earned two saves for the first half in net while Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) finished with four saves in net for the second half.

Regis (9-6, 5-5 GNAC) is set to host University of Saint Joseph on Tuesday, April 23, at 7:00 p.m. Dean (3-11, 2-8 GNAC) is scheduled to travel to face Johnson and Wales on Tuesday, April 23, at 4:00 p.m.
