Two School Records Broken Saturday at Pre-Conference Meet

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's track and field team broke two school records and picked up several event victories Saturday, April 23, at the Pre-Conference Meet at Regis Stadium.

Nicholas Pastore (Brockton, Mass.) won the long jump with a school record mark of 6.16 meters (20' 2.5"), winning by a quarter-meter and breaking the previous standard established last weekend. Pastore also won the 100 meter dash in 12.00 seconds and anchored the 4x100 meter relay to a second place finish, joining with Brett Kiesel (Rocky Hill, Conn.), Matt Ferrara (Sandown, N.H.), and Aiden Charles (Lowell, Mass.) to post an overall time of 44.90 seconds.

Kiesel improved upon his own school record mark in the javelin throw, finishing in second place at 47.82 meters (156' 11"). He also won the discus throw by over two meters with a top mark of 34.62 meters (113' 7").

Charles won the hammer throw with a mark of 28.51 meters (93' 6"), improving upon his personal best mark by almost seven meters. He also finished third in the 110 meter hurdles in 18.13 seconds and sixth in the discus throw with a mark of 25.50 meters (83' 8").

Michael Carroll (Lynn, Mass.) won the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:19.99, followed by Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) in second place in 4:25.07. Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) finished second in the 400 meter hurdles by 1/100th of a second with a time of 1:00.35, and AJ Corso (Broad Brook, Conn.) crossed the finish line in third place in the 800 meter run at 2:05.46.

After the meet, seniors Ferrara, Gustavo Novelle-Ruddy (Boston, Mass.), and Pastore were recognized for their contributions to the Pride program.

Regis College will head to New London, N.H., next Sunday, May 1, for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Colby-Sawyer College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
