Men’s Track and Field Finishes Fifth at GNAC Indoor Championships

BOSTON – Several personal best performances highlighted the effort of the Regis College men's track and field team as it participated in the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships Sunday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.) broke his own school record in the long jump, finishing second in the event with a top mark of 6.47 meters (21' 2.75") accomplished on his fifth attempt. He also finished fifth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.36 seconds and seventh in the 200 meter dash in 23.90 seconds.

Michael Carroll (Lynn, Mass.) also earned All-GNAC honors with a third place finish in the 800 meter run with a personal-best time of 2:02.83, plus he finished fifth in the one mile run in 4:43.54. Carroll also anchored the 4x400 meter relay squad to a fourth place finish with an overall time of 3:45.64.

Matt Ferrara (Sandown, N.H.) scored in two events for the Pride, finishing fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.75 meters (5' 8.75") and fifth in the long jump with a top mark of 6.22 meters (20' 5") posted on his sixth and final attempt.

Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) finished fourth in the 400 meter dash in 54.20 seconds, over two seconds faster than his previous best time, plus he cut almost a full second off his personal best in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.29 seconds.

In the throwing events, Brett Kiesel (Rocky Hill, Conn.) led the way with a fourth place finish in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 10.87 meters (35' 8"). Danny Skinner (Natick, Mass.) finished eighth in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 8.82 meters (28' 11.25") as well as an 11th place finish in the shot put with a mark of 8.38 meters (27' 6").

Aiden Charles (Lowell, Mass.) also scored for the Pride, finishing sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a finals time of 9.66 seconds, 0.17 seconds quicker than his preliminary mark. He also finished 10th in the weight throw with a top mark of 7.84 meters (25' 8.75").

As a team, the Pride finished in fifth place with 41 total points, just one point behind fourth place Lasell. Suffolk University cruised to the GNAC team title with 234 points.

The team's attention now turns to the outdoor season, starting with the BSU Bears Invitational at Bridgewater State Saturday, March 26.
