Men’s Track and Field Finds Success at Middlebury Winterfell

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Regis College men's track and field team continued the indoor season with several solid performances Saturday at the Middlebury Winterfell, hosted by Middlebury College at the Virtue Field House.

Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) earned the highest individual placement among Pride competitors, finishing sixth in the 400 meter run with a personal collegiate-best time of 56.48 seconds. Michael Carroll (Lynn, Mass.) crossed the finish line in seventh place in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:28.20, and Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) finished eighth in the 1000 meter run in 2:50.13.

Carroll, Happenny, Margiatto, and AJ Corso (Broad Brook, Conn.) combined to post a time of 3:51.00 in the 4x400 meter relay, finishing in 10th place overall. Corso also completed the one mile run in 5:04.24, while Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) finished the 5000 meter run in 14th place with a time of 18:27.66.

Brett Kiesel (Rocky Hill, Conn.) competed in four events for the Pride, highlighted by a 12th place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.77 meters (18' 11.25"). He also finished 13th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.69 seconds and 18th in the preliminaries of the 60 meter dash in 7.56 seconds, plus he notched a personal-best mark of 10.23 meters (33' 6.75") in the shot put.

Also in the throwing events, Danny Skinner (Natick, Mass.) continued his improvement, adding 0.68 meters to his personal best mark in the weight throw to 7.87 meters (25' 10") and 1/10th of a meter in the shot put up to 8.43 meters (27' 8").

The Regis College track and field team returns to Vermont for the Middlebury Invitational next Saturday, Jan. 29, starting at 11 a.m.
