WINTHROP, Mass. – After performing well against some of the top regional competition not only in Division III, but also Division II, at the Penmen Relays this past Saturday, three members of the Regis College track and field team have received weekly awards from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, as announced Monday by the league office.

Seniors Daniel LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.) and Fatima St. Hilaire (Dorchester, Mass.) have been named the Athletes of the Week, LaFlamme for the second time this season and St. Hilaire for the third consecutive week. In addition, freshman Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.) earned his second Rookie of the Week honor of the year.

LaFlamme broke the school record in the shot put on his first attempt Saturday, finishing in ninth place among 59 competitors with a mark of 13.39 meters (43' 11.25"), 0.09 meters further than the previous record set six years ago. He also finished in 10th place in the hammer throw with a top effort of 41.86 meters (137' 4") and in 17th place in the discus throw with a top mark of 35.00 meters (114' 10").

St. Hilaire lowered the 100 meter dash school record time to 12.68 seconds, fourth-best among 96 competitors in the preliminaries Saturday. She advanced to the final, where she crossed the finish line in sixth place with a time of 12.70 seconds. St. Hilaire also won the long jump after posting a school record mark of 5.74 meters (18' 10") on her fifth attempt. It was 0.11 meters further than the previous school record she established last year, and it is now the third-best mark in all of Division III. In addition, she won her heat of the 200 meter dash in 27.56 seconds.

Pastore continues to perform well for Regis as he posted two season-best times Saturday. In the 200 meter dash, Pastore won his heat and finished 13th overall out of 68 participants with a time of 23.55 seconds, 0.24 seconds quicker than his mark last weekend. In the 400 meter dash, he finished 18th overall out of 64 competitors in 52.88 seconds. He also finished 23rd in the long jump with a top leap of 5.55 meters (18' 2.5").

The Regis track and field team heads to the Mansfield Outdoor Athletic Complex in Mansfield, Conn., for the Eastern Connecticut State University Invitational Friday, April 19, starting at 2 p.m. The Pride will then prepare to host the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday, April 27, at 3 p.m. and Sunday, April 28, beginning at 10 a.m.
