Pride Track And Field Take Home Six GNAC Major Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) men’s and women’s track and field teams followed up its GNAC titles with a plethora of major awards as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference handed out its major awards on Friday following the league’s first-ever outdoor championship

Regis (Mass.) second-year head coach Kourtney Bonsey was voted both the GNAC Men's and Women's Coach of the Year by her peers after guiding the Pride to a sweep of the team titles at the GNAC Championships. Bonsey's squads also received both GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Awards. 

Regis junior Fatima St. Hilaire (Danvers, Mass.) was voted both the GNAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year and Field Athlete of the Year. She collected both major awards after first-place finishes in both the 4x100 and the 4x400. She was also second in the 100 meter dash (13.25) and third in the 400 meter dash (1:03.35), and won the women's long jump (5.26m) and triple jump (11.42m) events. Rounding the women’s honors was Abby Flaherty (Millbury, Mass.) who earned track rookie of the year honors.

On the men’s side, junior Daniel LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.) was a unanimous choice by the conference’s head coaches for the 2018 GNAC Men's Field Athlete of the Year award. The 6-2 thrower placed first in the shotput (13.08m), second in the discus (36.93m), third in the hammer throw (37.55m), and fourth in the javelin (36.96m). 

GNAC all-conference honors were awarded at the conclusion of the championships to the winners of each event. The Pride took home a combined 15 all-league honors.
