Anderson Named GNAC Athlete and Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - Regis (Mass.) track and field freshman Cole Anderson (Falmouth, Maine) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Athlete and Rookie of the Week. The announcement came from the conference office on Monday evening.

It is the second consecutive week the Pride men's track and field team has received a GNAC Player of the Week Award. Last week, junior Daniel LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.) received the honor.

At the Penmen Relays on Saturday at Southern New Hampshire University, Anderson won and set a new school record in the men’s discus with a throw of 40.00 meters. He also placed seventh in the men’s hammer throw with a throw of 34.89m.

Anderson and the rest of the Pride will return to action on Saturday, when the team travels to MIT to take part in the Sean Collier Invitational. The first events of the day are slated to kick off at 10:00 a.m.
