CROSS COUNTRY AND TRACK & FIELD ANNOUNCES INCOMING RECRUTING CLASS

WESTON, Mass. – Head Coach Dan Flynn is proud to announce the 2015 recruiting class for the Regis College cross country and track & field teams programs. The men's squad welcomes 12 new faces to the program while the women welcome 12 new teammates.

The 12 new men's members are:

Andrew Barros (Sprints) comes to Regis College after having competed for Malden Catholic High School. The sprinter placed in the top 10 during the Catholic Conference Classic in the 100m his senior year. Barros comes in with personal bests of 7.49 for the 55m dash and 11.94 for 100m.

Denver Bergamin (Distance) hails from Barnstable, Mass. and competed in cross country and track & field for the Red Raiders. Bergamin boasts personal bests of 1:34.38 for 600m and 2:10.0 for 800m.

Markus Brown (Sprints) competed for Catholic Memorial prior to coming to Regis College. The sprint specialist placed top 10 in the 55m dash at the Tri-County Championships. Brown has personal bests of 6.93 for the 55m and has run 11.64 for 100m.

Jordan Dash (Distance) comes to Regis after having competed for Nauset Regional High School. The middle distance specialist took home first place in the Atlantic Coast Championships in the 800m this past spring. Dash has personal bests of 1:35.7 for the 600m and 2:08.2 for 800m.

Taylor Garner (Throws) Hails from Richmond, Vt. A graduate of Mt. Mansfield Union High School in Jericho, Vt., He is an All-State/All-New England performer in the Shot Put and Discus with respective throws of (44'7" Shot) and (145'2" Disc). Taylor will also be picking up the Weight, an event he has tossed a life best 46'11".

Daniel LaFlamme(Throws) hails from Watertown, Ct. He is a graduate of Watertown High School. With life bests in Shot Put (41'3") and Discus (101'9") he will be competing in both events for the Pride come this season.

Matthew Malone (Hurdles) is a graduate of Catholic Memorial. The hurdle specialists placed top 8 during the Tri-County Championships in the 55m hurdles this past indoor season. He comes to Regis with personal bests of 8.33 for the 55m hurdles, 15.74 for the 110m hurdles, and 60.31 for the 400m hurdles.

Fred Mathieu (Hurdles/Sprints) comes to Regis from Miami. Mathieu competed in both the sprint and hurdle events for Coral Reef Senior High School. Mathieu has personal bests of 15.77 for the 110m hurdles, 41.51 for 300m hurdles, and 52.9 for the 400m dash.

Stephen McCall (Distance) is a distance specialist from Brockton High. The Regis commit found success in both cross country and track and field. McCall boasts personal bests of 16:32 for 5k and has track personal records of 2:05.4 for 800m and 4:40.1 for the mile.

Kristopher Moore (Hurdles) comes to Regis after having competed for Fairhaven High School. The Massachusetts native has personal bests of 8.94 in the 55m hurdles and 60.74 for the 400m hurdles.

Shane Romanchick (Distance) is a Connecticut native and ran for Trumbull High School. Romachick competed in both cross country and track & field for the Eagles prior to coming to Regis. The distance standout has personal bests of 10:08 for 3200m and 17:21 for 5k.

Frank Pelleteri (Throws) comes from Attleboro, Mass. As graduate of Coyle & Cassidy High School in Taunton, Mass. he produced a life best in his lone event (Shot Put) with a toss of 45'5" during his senior year. In that same season he earned an 8th place finish at the MIAA Div.4 State Track and Field Championships. He will continue to progress in that event with the Pride come this season.

The women's recruits are:

Vanessa Avard (Pole Vault/Middle Distance) competed in both cross country and track and field for Manchester West High School. The New Hampshire native comes to Regis with personal records of 3:51 for 1000m and 23:02 for 5k.

Bianca Baez (Throws) hails from Lawrence, Mass. A graduate of Lawrence High School, Bianca joins the Pride to throw Shot Put and Discus. Her life bests of (33'6" Shot) and (88'1" Disc) have earned her spots at both the indoor/outdoor MIAA Div.1 Eastern Div. Track and Field Championships. She will throw both events in the upcoming season.

Elliana Boebel (Throws) hails from Bedford, Mass. A graduate of Bedford High School, Elliana comes to Regis with a life best in the Shot Put of 33'4", a toss that earned her an appearance in the MIAA Div.4 State Track and Field Championships. She will be throwing that same event for the Pride in the 15'-16' campaign.

Keegan Duguay (Hurdles) joins the Regis Track & Field team after competing for Watertown High School. The hurdle specialist has a personal best of 8.93 in the 55m hurdles and 16.12 in the 100m hurdles. Duguay also has experience competing in the Pentathlon and Heptathlon multi-event competitions.

Casandra Froio (Sprints) hails from Tewksbury, Mass. The sprint specialist from Tewksbury Memorial High School has personal bests of 8.41 in the 55m dash and 54.7 in the 300m.

Elizabeth Ksepka (Throws) hails from Plainfield, Vt. A graduate of U-32 High School in Montpelier, Vt., Elizabeth joins the Pride throwing the Shot Put and Discus. Elizabeth threw career bests of (33'8" Shot) and (107'5" Disc) during her senior year while qualifying for both events at the indoor and outdoor New England Championships.

Andrea O'Hearn (Distance) is a New Hampshire native and competed in both cross country and track and field for Pelham High School. The distance runner placed top 50 in her cross country state meet her senior year and has a 5,000m personal record of 21:58.

Emily Spillane (Sprints) competed in both the sprint and hurdle events for Tri-County Technical High School. Spillane was the Massachusetts State Vocational Schools champion in the 100m hurdles her senior season. She comes to Regis with personal bests of 18.02 for the 100m hurdles and 15.24 for the 100m dash.

Fatima St. Hilaire (Middle Distance) comes to Regis from St. Joseph Preparatory High School. The Massachusetts native is a middle distance specialist. St. Hilaire boasts personal bests of 67.44 for 400m and 2:52 for 800m.

Jennifer Marra (Throws) hails from Groveland, Mass. A graduate of Pentucket Regional High School in West Newbury, Mass., Jennifer is the second graduate from Pentucket to join the Pride in as many years. She will be throwing Shot Put and Discus. She is an All-Conference performer (Cape Ann) in both events. With personal bests of (29'3" Shot) and (94'1" Disc), Jennifer also earned appearances in the indoor/outdoor MIAA Div.3 State Track and Field Championships.

Anna Nguyen (Throws) hails from Stoughton, Mass. A graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton, Mass., Anna joins the Pride competing in the Shot Put and Discus events. She holds career bests of (29' Shot) and (69'5" Disc). Anna earned All-Conference honors (Tri-County) in the Shot Put. She will throw both events in the upcoming season.

Elizabeth Taranto (Sprints) joins the Regis Track & Field team after having competed at St. Joseph Preparatory High School in Boston. The sprint specialist boasts personal bests of 14.94 in the 100m and 32.24 for 200m.

Both cross country teams open up their season at the Roger Williams Invitational on Saturday, September 5th at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. at 10:00 a.m.
