Several GNAC Postseason Honors for Pride Women’s Volleyball

WINTHROP, Mass. - Ahnasia Mckinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been selected the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Volleyball Setter of the Year, highlighting Regis College's representation within the All-GNAC awards announced Tuesday, Nov. 14, by the league office.

Mckinney, also a First Team All-GNAC selection, finished at the top of the league in total assists with 785, breaking the single-season Regis record, and in assists per set at 6.71, third-highest in a single season in program history. Recognized as the GNAC Setter of the Week five times this season, Mckinney also contributed 162 kills, 29 service aces, 238 digs, and 51 total blocks during the season. She notched two triple-doubles during the year: against Simmons Sept. 30 (11 kills, 16 assists, 11 digs) and at Elms Oct. 21 (11 kills, 21 assists, 10 digs).

"Ahnasia set the tone for us each day as the leader of our offense all year," head coach Josh Anderson said. "She is both our primary setter as well as one of our most effective hitters."

Kamdyn Tenorio (Irvine, Calif.) also earned First Team All-GNAC honors after finishing the season third in the GNAC with 68 service aces, fourth in the conference with 437 digs, and 10th in the league with 261 kills. She posted the fifth-highest digs total, seventh-highest total of service aces, and eighth-highest kills total in a single season in Regis history. Tenorio notched 12 double-doubles during the season, including a five-set victory over Roger Williams Sept. 2 with 17 kills and 15 digs as well as a season-high 22 digs against Salve Regina Sept. 16.

"Kam is the leader for us on the court. She continues to progress offensively, while leading all pin hitters in the conference from the defensive side of the game," Anderson said.

Aryam Serrano-Monserrate (Lake Forest, Calif.) received Second Team All-GNAC recognition after helping the Regis defensive effort with 217 digs, averaging a career-high 2.89 digs per set. She reached double figures in digs 10 times in 2023, with a career-high 23 digs during Regis' five-set comeback victory over Wellesley Oct. 12. Serrano-Monserrate also collected 20 digs in another five-set rally for the Pride over Framingham State Oct. 28, and she tied her career high with five service aces against Lasell Oct. 25.

"Aryam did a great job holding down the left-back side of the court for us and forcing teams out of system with her serve," added Anderson.

Avery Mola (Cheshire, Conn.) was voted Second Team All-GNAC and to the GNAC All-Rookie Team after leading the Pride with 294 kills, fourth-most in a single season in program history. Mola also finished second on the team with 52 service aces and 347 defensive digs. She is believed to now hold the single-match school record for kills after finishing with 23 kills along with four service aces and 13 digs against Framingham State Oct. 28, one of 10 double-doubles Mola produced during her initial collegiate campaign.

"Avery had a great first season, leading us in points and kills," Anderson said. "We are excited to continue to see her grow on the court."

Rita Dow (Nashua, N.H.) earned All-GNAC honors for the third straight year, as she was voted Third Team All-GNAC after finishing with 227 kills, 46 service aces, and 97 total blocks during the 2023 season. Dow became the Regis all-time leader in career matches played with 128 and sets played with 450, plus she concluded her collegiate career second in program history in career kills with 844 and in career attack percentage at .265, third in career service aces with 183, and fifth in career total blocks with 303.

"As a grad student, Rita did a great job leading by example and being a force both offensively and defensively at the net," said Anderson.

Grace Fabiano (Greenland, N.H.) joins Mola on the GNAC All-Rookie Team after completing her first season of collegiate volleyball with 209 kills, 49 digs, and 79 total blocks. Fabiano earned a season-high 13 kills along with four blocks at Emmanuel Oct. 17, plus she reached double figures in kills four other times this year. She was a consistent presence at the net, earning at least one block in all but two matches this season. In addition, Fabiano went 10-for-19 (.526) in attack attempts against Husson Sept. 16 and 12-for-23 (.522) against Mitchell Sept. 30.

"Grace did a great job stepping in on the right side for us, being the focal point to our block as well as one of our go-to hitters," added Anderson.

Toni Ondris (Mineola, N.Y.) has been selected to the GNAC Women's Volleyball All-Sportsmanship Team for the third consecutive year after returning as a graduate student and serving as one of the team captains. Ondris appeared in 104 sets within 34 matches this season for the Pride, collecting 38 service aces and 105 digs during the season. She earned five service aces at Colby-Sawyer Nov. 4 and picked up 11 digs against WPI Sept. 5. Ondris also contributed significantly to the volleyball team's social media presence on Instagram.

"Toni is what makes our program great. She does all of the little things that people don't notice on a box score to help us be successful," continued Anderson. "Toni and Rita have both left our program in a better place now than when they started."

As a team, the Regis women's volleyball squad set the program records for most overall wins in a single season with 26, most conference victories in a single season with 14, and highest single-season overall winning percentage at .765. For the first time in program history, the Pride have won at least 20 matches in a season in three straight years, and the team advanced to the GNAC Tournament title match for the first time since joining the league in 2017.
