Regis Women’s Volleyball Earns Road Victory

KEENE, N.H. - Regis College got back on the winning track Wednesday night, defeating Keene State College, 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22), in a non-conference women's collegiate volleyball match at Spaulding Gymnasium.

Kamdyn Tenorio (Irvine, Calif.) notched a double-double with 11 kills and a team-high 25 digs, plus she posted a .417 hitting percentage and added three service aces. Ayla Albers (San Diego, Calif.) finished with nine kills and six digs, while Ahnasia Mckinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) collected seven kills, 23 assists, and eight digs. Rita Dow (Nashua, N.H.) contributed five kills, five service aces, and four total blocks, and Aryam Serrano-Monserrate (Lake Forest, Calif.) added four assists, three service aces, and 15 defensive digs.

Keene State scored four of the first five points of the match before Regis put together an 11-2 scoring run, including consecutive kills by Tenorio and two aces from Dow. The Owls went on a 6-1 scoring run to tie the set at 17-17, but a solo block by Dow capped a three-point stretch for the Pride. Regis would score three of the final four points of the opening set, including kills by Mckinney and Kate Montigny (Shrewsbury, Mass.).

Two kills by Albers and back-to-back aces from Serrano-Monserrate allowed the Pride to open a 6-1 advantage in the second set, and then Regis would extend its lead to 13 thanks to a 10-2 scoring run, featuring three kills by Tenorio and ending with a solo block from Montigny. The Owls rattled off six unanswered points to close to within seven, but the Pride would hold off the comeback to take a 2-0 match lead.

Tenorio started the third set with consecutive aces, but Keene State quickly responded, led by two kills from Gigi Stake. After a quick 5-0 run by the Pride, capped by consecutive kills from Dow, Keene State put together a 9-1 scoring run, led by two aces from Kacie Blanchet and two kills by Stake, to pull ahead, 16-13. Down 24-18, the Pride extended the set with four straight points, featuring back-to-back aces by Dow, but the Owls finally closed out the third set on a kill by Sydney Johnson.

The Pride scored four of the first five points of the fourth set, but Keene State responded with an 8-1 scoring run, led by three kills from Johnson as well as two kills and a block assist by Veronica Kroha. With the score tied at 17-17, Regis scored five of the next six points, featuring back-to-back kills by Tenorio. Two kills from Kroha helped the Owls close to within two late in the set, but a Keene State attack error clinched the set and the match for the Pride.

Johnson led the Owls with 13 kills, while Kroha earned 10 kills and four total blocks. Blanchet dished out 34 assists to go along with three kills, three service aces, and 15 digs, and Reagan Fleming led the team with 21 defensive digs, plus she accumulated six assists to help the offense.

Regis College (10-9) heads right back into action with a short trip to face Framingham State Thursday, Oct. 6, beginning at 7 p.m.
