PRIDE FALL TO LIONS

Weston, Mass.---The Regis College women's tennis team was defeated  by  Eastern Nazarene College Wednesday (Sept. 29) by the score of 7-2. The Pride exit the contest with an overall record of 1-8 and are 1-7 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The visiting Lions move to 1-10 in TCCC play.

In Singles the Pride were led by Mary Jane Barron (Whitinsville, Mass. /Holy Name) who rallied back from a long set against the Lions Laura Keith (Bridgewater, Mass. /Bridgewater)  The late rally was not enough with Keith winning the match 6-4. Freshman Paige Pasley (Dorchester, Mass. /Fontbonne Academy) had the Pride's only win in singles with a (7-5, 6-4) victory over the Lions Monica Gonzalez (Somerville, Mass. /Somerville). The Lions Elise Sleeper (Sanford, Maine. /Seacoast Christian) defeated the Pride's Alexandra Kuchera (Waltham, Mass. /Waltham) by the score of (6-0, 6-0).

Leading the Pride in doubles play were Kunjan Patel (Waltham, Mass. / Waltham) and Paige Pasley (Dorchester, Mass. /Fontbonne Academy) who defeated the Lions duo of Sammie Jones (Marion, Mass. /Warehem) and Monica Gonzalez (Somerville, Mass. /Somerville) by the score of 8-3. The Prides Mary Jane Barron and Maryse Emungu (Burlington, Vt. /Rice Memorial) were defeated by the Lions double partners Laura Keith and Arielle Nazareth (Warwick, RI. /Toll Gate) by the score of 8-1

The Pride will travel to Colby Sawyer College Saturday (Oct. 2) to compete in their next match. The Lions next contest will be against Western New England College on Saturday (Oct. 2).
