PRIDE PRIMED FOR AMCATS

Weston, Mass.---The Regis College women's tennis team is set to take on Anna Maria College Saturday (Sept. 11) at the Regis Athletic fields.   The Pride enters the contest 0-3 after dropping matches to Endicott College and Gordon College earlier this month.  The AMCATS enter the match 0-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference after suffering a loss in their season opener to Wentworth and a loss to Becker College earlier this week.

In 2010 the Pride captains, Alexandria Kuchera (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) and junior Mary Jane Barron (Whitinsville, Mass./Holy Name) have shown strong performances so far this season. Paige Pasley, a freshman from (Dorchester, Mass./Fontbonne Academy ) is looking to have a promising year. Pasley forced a tie breaking set in her singles match against Becker College early this season. Freshman Teanna Montoya (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyard Regional) has also played well for the Pride, battling back through some long sets against Gordon College in the last matchup.

Leading the AMCATS is freshman Emily Williamson (Spencer, Mass./David Prouty). Williamson won her singles set (6-0, 6-1) to give the AMCATS their only set victory of the match. In doubles play, Williamson and freshman Victoria Minotti (Shelton, Conn.)  have had strong performances this season and look to continue this trend in upcoming matches.

The match is set to start at 11:00 am and will be held at the Regis College Athletic Fields.
