Regis Women’s Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Honors

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - The Regis College women's lacrosse program has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for its academic excellence, as four student-athletes have been included on the 2023 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll and the team as a whole has been named a IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Squad, announced Wednesday, July 26, by the national organization.

Regis, one of six IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Squads from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) along with Dean College, Emmanuel College, Saint Joseph's College of Maine, Simmons University, and University of Saint Joseph, received the team award for posting a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher during the 2022-23 academic year. In total, 290 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA were recognized, with Regis picking up the team award for the first time since 2019.

To be eligible for the IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student in 2022-23 and have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or greater. The IWLCA honored 963 student-athletes from 173 different institutions on the 2023 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll. All four Regis honorees are nursing majors and received 2022-23 Academic All-GNAC recognition earlier this year.

Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.) has joined the lacrosse program after completing the swimming and diving season in each of the past two years. During the 2023 season, she appeared in 14 matches, including seven starts, and finished the year with 10 groundballs and six caused turnovers. She collected two groundballs in consecutive matches at Dean March 11 and against Albertus Magnus March 16.

Mia Rogers (Revere, Mass.) appeared in 15 matches for the Pride in 2023, making 14 starts. Rogers completed the season with 11 goals, 40 groundballs, and 20 caused turnovers. She notched her first career hat trick with three goals at Dean March 11, plus she caused four turnovers in that contest. Rogers will serve as Treasurer on the 2023-24 Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board.

Hannah Schneiderman (Manchester, N.H.) started all 16 matches for the Pride in 2023, finishing with 14 groundballs and 12 caused turnovers. She caused two turnovers each in victories over Albertus Magnus March 16 and Lasell April 15. She is now a two-time IWLCA Academic Honor Roll selection as well as a member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad for field hockey, in which she was a four-year letterwinner at Regis.

Maddey Strickland (Hopkinton, Mass.) made 12 starts among her 14 appearances for the Pride in 2023. She scored her first two career collegiate goals in the team's season-opening victory at Rhode Island College March 9, plus she collected three groundballs in Regis' win at University of Saint Joseph March 18. Strickland was elected as Secretary for 2023-24 on the SGA Class of 2024 Board.
