Abbie Doheny Named to GNAC Women’s Lacrosse All-Sportsmanship Team

WINTHROP, Mass. - Sophomore midfielder Abbie Doheny (Lunenburg, Mass.) has been selected to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Lacrosse All-Sportsmanship Team, as the conference office announced the results of the voting by the 14 league head coaches for All-Conference awards Monday, May 8.

For the second consecutive season, Doheny started all 16 matches for the Pride, once again scoring 18 goals during the year. She also collected three assists for 21 total points along with 60 groundballs, 51 draw controls, and 15 caused turnovers.

Doheny scored two goals in three of the Pride's first four matches of the season, all Regis victories. In an 11-9 victory over University of Saint Joseph March 18, she finished with two goals, nine groundballs, and five draw controls. She tied her career high with four goals against UMass Dartmouth March 28, and she also notched a hat trick with three goals along with seven groundballs and four draw controls against Lasell April 15.

In just two seasons, Doheny is already ninth on the Regis career draw controls list with 89, plus she is just outside the top 10 for career groundballs and career caused turnovers. The total of nine groundballs she collected at USJ is tied for fifth-most in a single match in program history.

Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports, including women's lacrosse, within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
