Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Colby-Sawyer

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College lost to Colby-Sawyer College, 15-1, Wednesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse match at Regis Stadium.

Regis scored the first goal just 24 seconds into the contest as Kylee Marley (Westerly, R.I.) collected the opening draw control to give the Pride possession. Morgan Pero (Hartford, Vt.) would eventually score her 18th goal of the season off an assist from Abbie Doheny (Lunenburg, Mass.) to give the Pride an early lead.

Colby-Sawyer would take over from there, winning 16 of the remaining 19 draw controls and keeping possession down the field as the Chargers were a perfect 14-for-14 on clear attempts. Colby-Sawyer also converted on six of seven free position shots during the night as it outshot Regis in the game, 24-10.

Sophia Kuhlthau led the Chargers with five goals, while Sydney Stevens finished with four goals and one assist. Heather Hanson contributed two goals, one assist, six groundballs, and five draw controls, and Ella Lyford added two goals to the winning effort.

AJ Paton made six saves as she picked up the victory in net for the Chargers. Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) finished with five saves for the Pride.

Regis College (5-6, 3-5 GNAC) heads to Standish, Maine, to face Saint Joseph's College next Wednesday, April 12, beginning at 6 p.m. Colby-Sawyer College (7-4, 5-2 GNAC) hosts Lasell University Saturday, April 8, starting at 11 a.m.
