Women’s Lacrosse Outlasts Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass - Regis College defeated Anna Maria, 12-10, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse game at Caparso Field.

Madeline Conover (West Newbury, Mass.) led the Pride with five goals and one assist while Kylee Marley (Westerly, R.I.) finished with two goals and one assist. Morgan Pero (Hartford, Vt.), Retta Hatin (Hooksett, N.H.), Serenity Ayala (North Brookfield, Mass.), Mia Rogers (Revere, Mass.), and Abbie Doheny (Lunenburg, Mass.) each had one goal while Pero also added one assist.

After getting outscored, 3-2, in the first quarter with goals scored by Conover and Hatin, the Pride scored five straight goals in the second, with scores by Marley, Rogers, Ayala, and a pair of goals by Conover to earn her the hat trick. Regis took an 8-4 lead by the end of the half off a Doheny goal scored on a free position shot.

Conover scored again in the third to keep Anna Maria down by two (9-7) followed by both teams scoring three times in the fourth quarter as Marley, Pero, and Conover found the net to maintain the lead for the Pride.

Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) made 10 saves in the win for Regis, while Ashley Sheehan had 14 as the goalie for Anna Maria.

Regis managed to win 23 out of 26 total draw controls and outshot the AMCATS by a margin of 36-25.

Regis College (5-4, 3-3 GNAC) hosts Johnson & Wales on Sunday, April 2, beginning at 12:00 p.m. before hosting Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday, April 5, starting at 7:00 p.m.
