Kerri Anselmo Captures GNAC Player of Week Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – After leading the Regis College women's lacrosse team to season-opening victories on back-to-back days, senior Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.

Anselmo totaled 11 goals and five assists for 16 points to go with eight ground balls, 16 draw controls, and four caused turnovers. She started the season in a big way Thursday at Fitchburg State, scoring a career-high seven goals, including a 4-for-5 performance in free position attempts, plus she dished out four assists to finish with 11 points, tying her career high in that category.

On Friday at Thomas College, she scored four goals, earned a career-high 10 draw controls, and picked up five ground balls in the Pride's 15-4 victory. In just two matches, Anselmo is already seventh in the GNAC in goals with 11, first in free-position goals with six, and fourth in both points with 16 and draw controls with 16.

This is the second career GNAC weekly award for Anselmo, as she was previously recognized April 8, 2019, after a six-goal, five-assist performance at Emmanuel along with a hat trick at Anna Maria. The three-time all-conference honoree and all-time assist leader in Pride history moved into solo third place on the Regis career goals list, now with 182 career goals.

Regis College (2-0) enters a busy week with three matches in five days, starting with home contests against Salem State Tuesday, March 10, and against Gordon College Thursday, March 12, both starting at 7 p.m. The Pride will then open their league schedule at Colby-Sawyer College Saturday, March 14, beginning at 1 p.m.
