Regis Women’s Lacrosse Finalizes 2020 Schedule

REGIS COLLEGE 2020 WOMEN'S LACROSSE SCHEDULE

WESTON, Mass. – Coming off its best season in program history, the Regis College women's lacrosse team has finalized its competition schedule for the 2020 season, featuring eight home matches within the 16-match slate.

The Pride open the season with two road matches during Spring Break, starting Thursday afternoon, March 5, at Fitchburg State. Regis will then head to Waterville, Maine, for a matchup against Thomas College Saturday, March 7.

The home opener for Regis takes place Tuesday night, March 10, against Salem State, followed by another home night game Thursday, March 12, against Gordon College. The Pride begin their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) schedule at Colby-Sawyer College Saturday afternoon, March 14.

Regis returns home for its final non-conference regular season game against UMass Dartmouth Wednesday, March 18. The Pride will then host conference foe Emmanuel College Saturday, March 21, in a rematch of the 2019 GNAC Tournament quarterfinal match won by the Pride, 13-5.

The Pride heads south for a road contest at Albertus Magnus Tuesday evening, March 24, before hosting Anna Maria Saturday, March 28. Regis will then renew its rivalry with Lasell University, making the short trip to Newton to face the Lasers Tuesday, March 31. Last season, the Pride defeated the Lasers by one goal in both the regular season matchup as well as in the GNAC Tournament semifinal contest.

Regis plays back-to-back home games on the first weekend of April, welcoming Rivier University Saturday, April 4, and Saint Joseph's College Sunday, April 5. After traveling to face Simmons University Tuesday, April 7, the Pride close out the regular season home schedule against University of St. Joseph Tuesday, April 14, in the One Love dedication game.

The Pride close the 2020 regular season with two road matches, beginning Saturday, April 18, against defending GNAC champion Johnson & Wales. Last year, the Wildcats snapped Regis' 13-game winning streak at the end of the regular season and then defeated the Pride in the GNAC Tournament championship match. Regis heads to Northfield, Vt., to take on Norwich University in the regular season finale Wednesday, April 22.

The top eight teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the 2020 GNAC Tournament, starting with the quarterfinals Saturday, April 25. The semifinals will take place Tuesday, April 28, followed by the championship match at the highest remaining seed Saturday, May 2.

Regis posted a 15-3 overall record in 2019, including a 10-1 conference record to finish second in the regular season standings. Head coach Courtney Duggan, named GNAC Coach of the Year in 2019, enters her seventh season as head coach with 13 players returning from last season, including GNAC Defender of the Year Meghan Sargent and GNAC Goalkeeper of the Year Brittany McPherson as well as First Team All-GNAC honorees Kerri Anselmo and Maddy Rodriguez.
