Women’s Lacrosse Opens NCAA Tournament Against Ithaca

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's lacrosse team will head to Trinity College (CT) to face Ithaca in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The Bombers, ranked 19th in the latest coaches poll, are an at-large selection from the Empire 8 Conference. Regis and Ithaca will meet for the first time.

Regis (12-6, 7-0 NECC) and Ithaca (13-5, 8-0 Empire 8) will play Saturday, May 14 at Sheppard Field in Hartford, Conn. at a time to be determined. The winner will play Trinity (15-3) who has a bye into the second round.

The Pride return to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season and hope to advance this time around after dropping their first round game last year to MIT. Regis enters after winning its fourth straight NECC Tournament and earning the league's automatic qualifier for the second time.

The Bombers needed an at-large berth to the 40-team field after losing in overtime to St. John Fisher College in the championship game of the Empire 8 Tournament. It is the program's 10th appearance all-time and first since 2011.

Regis was one of 27 teams awarded automatic qualification for the championship. Regis and Ithaca will be one of eight first round games played on Saturday. All second round games will be played on Sunday with the winners advancing to one of four regional sites Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22. The Final Four will be hosting by St. Joseph's University and Widener University May 28-29 at Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia.
